Plans to construct the Montreal Quebec Temple were announced August 6, 1998. Church leaders broke ground April 9, 1999, and Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2008, dedicated the Montreal Quebec Temple June 4, 2000. The temple serves Latter-day Saints in Quebec, Ontario and Vermont.
The 994-square-metre temple’s exterior is Bethel white granite.
