Friend to Friend Features Children Sharing Jesus’ Love Through Service

Video with Elder and Sister Kearon illustrates how children feel joy and they invite, plan and serve

The September 2025 Friend to Friend for children from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, titled “Sharing Jesus’ Love Through Service,” illustrates how children can invite, plan and serve.

One video segment features Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Jennifer, as they participate in a Primary service activity in the Philippines, assembling hygiene kits for other children. “This is something they have been planning, and today they are packing them, and later on these will be delivered to these other children nearby,” explains Elder Kearon.

As the Kearons work alongside the children, the children speak to Elder and Sister Kearon about how they have fun and feel joy in serving others.

How do you think the children who receive these will feel?” Elder Kearon asks.

Happy,” the children respond together.

Elder Kearon asks, “Do you think Jesus would be happy?”

Yes,” replies one young boy named Kris. ”Because we are doing nice things for the people who are in need.”

The Primary General Presidency, along with child hosts Victor and Millie, and puppets Louie and Toucan, uses music, pictures, scriptures, and a paper candle craft to teach children about sharing Jesus Christ’s love through service.

As the children and the presidency work on the candle craft, President Susan H. Porter shares how she was able to serve with Primary children during her recent assignments to Cambodia, Thailand and Taiwan.

In Cambodia, for example, Primary children put together special kits of fun activities for other children who were in the hospital and then delivered the bags to them. “They were so happy,” President Porter says, as were the children who served.

Sister Amy A. Wright, First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, explains that the Book of Mormon scripture Mosiah 2:17 “reminds us that when we serve others, we are also serving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And I think that’s why it feels so good, because our Heavenly Father and our Savior want us to feel good whenever we are kind or do service to one another.”

Sister Tracy Y. Browning, Second Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, quotes Matthew 5:36, explaining that “the light we shine comes from when we do good things and others get to see that we are serving God’s children.”

Victor and Millie also share videos and photos of children in the Philippines, New Zealand, Texas, Mexico and Alabama who followed Jesus Christ and shared their light by serving others.

People all over the world have been helped by these service projects,” says Millie.

And Victor adds, “We hope you have fun serving with your Primary too.”

In January, the Primary General Presidency invited all Primaries worldwide to organize an annual service project. “We hope this worldwide effort will help children realize they are an important part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and can contribute in meaningful ways,” said a statement from the Primary presidency. “As the children serve, they will grow in their love for the Savior and feel joy as they share His love with others.”

The 15-minute Friend to Friend broadcast may be used at home or in Primary to help teach children about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Children can view this event at any time in Primary groups or at home on the Gospel for Kids YouTube channel and Gospel Library.
